MintCoin est une monnaie innovante, sécurisée et faible consommatrice d’énergie; basée sur l’hybridation travail/possession (PoW/PoS). Elle utilise une mécanisme de distribution PoW pour la distribution initiale, puis après 5 semaines la monnaie devient une pure monnaie PoS, où la génération de monnaie s’effectue principalement par le taux d’intérêt.

MintCoin utilise aussi un taux d’intérêt variable, ce qui donne le meilleur taux d’intérêt la première année, avec 20 %, puis il baisse de 5 % par an jusqu’à la quatrième année, où il atteint les 5 % et reste à ce niveau.

Comme après 5 semaines la monnaie deient du pur PoS, elle n’a pas besoin d’être grandement minée, vu que le paiement PoW reste minimal. La majorité des pièces seront générées par PoS,c’est donc une monnaie qui économise beaucoup d’énergie par rapport aux autres monnaies.
